BioScout raises A$6.75 million to take its agricultural technology global.

Uniseed are incredibly proud to see our portfolio company, BioScout, reach a massive new milestone, announcing a A$6.75 million capital raise to take their agricultural technology to the global stage!

When we first backed BioScout in their early days as they spun out of the University of Sydney, we saw a team with a groundbreaking vision: to help farmers "see the unseen."

Fungal disease destroys around 20% of the world's food supply every year. Growers spend roughly US$25 billion annually on fungicides to fight threats they can't even see.

Since our initial investment, we’ve watched BioScout grow into the world's largest agricultural disease-surveillance network.

Today, they have more than 250 in-field sensors live across five continents, all designed and built locally by the BioScout team in Marrickville, Sydney. These sensors read the air for over 40 airborne threats in real-time, allowing growers to cut their spray costs by up to 50% and save thousands of dollars per hectare.

This new A$6.75 million funding round will fuel their global expansion, taking their network to 1,000 sensors by 2029 and reaching every major growing region on the planet.

We are pleased to welcome the new investors propelling BioScout into this next chapter, including round co-leads Demea Sustainable Investment and Astanor, alongside GrainInnovate (on behalf of the Grains Research and Development Corporation), GrainCorp Ventures, Hort Innovation, Artesian, and Division Q.
